Festivity of Friendship: Nurturing Fellowship Through Competition and Delight

Hundreds of students from the Senior High School Department (SHS) fill row upon row of seats inside the gymnasium during the festivity of Sacred Heart College’s annual Friendship Day, July 7, 2026. Although the celebration kicked off earlier than expected, it did not get in the way of preparations or the fun-filled itinerary.

𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲

The traditional yell performances might have been cancelled for SHS students but Grade 11 and Grade 12 transformed the shortened presentation into a lively exchange that caught even teachers off guard with its energy.

What was supposed to be light banter and representation from each grade level evolved into a spirited competition. For many transferees, the moment became their first glimpse of the Cordian spirit, as friendly rivalry gave way to sportsmanship and sense of pride.

“The events were fun, as a transfer student, it was my first time experiencing an event like this. For me, the roll call was really lovely and fun,” Marian Katalbas shared.

𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗪𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆

Beyond serving as a playground for light-hearted competition, Friendship Day also paved the way for both connecting with old friends and welcoming new faces—some of which could be found in the school’s faculty, as BED Principal Melissa Carillo called to the front old and new teachers from both the elementary and senior high school department to perform.

The teachers rocked the dance floor, showcasing their enthusiasm and willfulness through a dance number to the remix of Digi Digi Dong and Brazilian Dance.

As Master of Ceremonies Johnathan Concepcion exclaimed: “Despite being new, these teachers showed that they’re willing and ready to give it their all!”
