LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Administrators from across Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc. (SHC) gathered today for a full-day training on ISO-ready documentation systems, communication processes, and risk assessment — a key step in the institution's continuing drive toward a better quality management system.

Held on the 2nd Floor of the Perboyre Building, the training was organized by the Office of Research, Innovation, Internationalization, and Quality Assurance (RIQA) and drew participants from academic and administrative units across the institution.

The program opened with a prayer led by the CVF team, followed by a welcome address from Dr. Lloyd Alzola, Vice-President for Academics, who underscored the SHC's commitment to strengthening institutional systems as part of its broader quality assurance and accreditation goals.
The workshop was led by Harby S. Nanad, MAT, Institutional Coordinator for Research, Innovation, and Quality Assurance, who walked participants through the three pillars of the day's program: building ISO-compliant document control systems, strengthening internal and external communication under ISO 9001:2015 Clause 7.4, and applying an ISO 31000-modeled framework to identify and manage institutional risk.

"Administrators and unit heads are the frontline of our quality assurance system. Every well-controlled document, every clearly communicated decision, and every risk we catch early is a direct contribution to the kind of institution we're building together," said Nanad during the talk.
The morning sessions focused on the fundamentals of document control — covering the institution's document hierarchy, from the Quality Manual down to unit-level records — followed by a deep dive into communication protocols and escalation pathways. In the afternoon, participants were introduced to a 5×5 risk matrix for scoring institutional risks by likelihood and impact, and then worked through real risks specific to their own offices.

Rather than a purely lecture-based format, the training built in dedicated workshop time for each topic. By the end of the day, every participating unit had produced three concrete outputs: a Document Control Checklist, a Communication Flow Mapping Worksheet with a defined escalation path, and a Unit Risk Register that identifies and scores its most pressing operational risks.
The day closed with an action-planning session, during which units committed to specific, time-bound steps to apply what they learned within the current term — commitments that RIQA will monitor as part of the institution's ongoing Unit QA Framework.
The training formally ended with remarks from Mrs. Sylvia Ingente, Director of Human Resource Development, who thanked participants for their engagement and encouraged administrators to carry the day's lessons back to their respective units. The CVF team once again led the closing prayer to cap off the day's activities.

The training operationalizes the enhanced SHC Quality Assurance Handbook and its Unit QA Framework, both developed by RIQA to translate institutional policy into practical, everyday tools for every office. During the open forum, it was noted that similar capacity-building sessions must continue to be rolled out across the institution as SHC works toward stronger, more consistent quality assurance practices institution-wide.
