Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc. (SHC) joined the Closing Liturgy of the 75th Founding Anniversary of the Diocese of Lucena and the Opening of the Year of Catholic Education, held at the Lucena City Convention Center.

Representing SHC were VP for Administrative Services and Finance Sr. Rosalia T. Glorioso, DC; VP for Academics Dr. Lloyd L. Alzola; VP for SDWEL Dr. Maria Lucila M. Baroro; Senior High School Principal; Ms. Melissa L. Carillo; and select student leaders.

The liturgical celebration marked the culmination of the Diocese of Lucena’s Diamond Jubilee, while ushering in a new year dedicated to recognizing and strengthening the mission of Catholic education.

The occasion reflects Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4): Quality Education, which calls for inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all. Beyond academic formation, SDG 4 also emphasizes developing learners who promote sustainable development, human rights, a culture of peace and non-violence, and global citizenship.

It also resonates with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, as Catholic education contributes to the formation of responsible, principled, and engaged members of society while strengthening collaboration among institutions and communities toward peaceful and inclusive societies.

As a Catholic and Vincentian educational institution, SHC continues to embrace its mission of forming learners in faith, knowledge, character, and service—remaining anchored in Christ and committed to becoming artisans of hope.
