On August 6–8, 2026, Mr. Jan-Almer L. Panganiban, Research Assistant from the Research, Innovation and Quality Assurance Office, and Ms. Maria Carmela Adrianna R. Alegre, Psychometrician from the Admission and Guidance Services Offices, both faculty members of the College of Psychology, participated in the AsiaPLAT x NPTC 2026: Joint Asia Psychology Learning and Teaching Congress.

The three-day academic conference was organized by the Teaching Psychology Special Interest Group (TPSIG) of the Psychological Association of the Philippines, together with the AsiaPLAT Consortium, in collaboration with the University of Santo Tomas Department of Psychology. It carried the theme, “Reimagining Psychology Education: Global Perspectives, Decolonization and Indigenization in Teaching and Learning,” which sought to foster meaningful dialogue on the future of psychology education across diverse cultural and social contexts.

Representing the institution, Mr. Panganiban and Ms. Alegre presented their research paper entitled, “Basic Personality Inventory and College Adjustment Scales: Examining Latent Structures and Structural Associations in a Filipino College Sample.” Their presentation provided an avenue to share the institution’s research initiatives and contribute to scholarly discussions on psychology education, particularly in promoting culturally responsive and context-sensitive approaches to teaching and learning.

The participation of the two faculty members also supports the institution’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly Target 4.7, which emphasizes education that promotes sustainable development, global citizenship, cultural diversity, and appreciation of diverse cultures. The conference’s emphasis on global perspectives, decolonization, and indigenization in psychology education provided a meaningful platform for advancing these principles within the field.

Moreover, their participation highlighted the institution’s commitment to strengthening research engagement, professional development, and international academic collaboration. By presenting research in an international forum, Mr. Panganiban and Ms. Alegre contributed to the exchange of knowledge and perspectives that enrich psychology education and promote greater recognition of culturally grounded research.

Through their involvement in AsiaPLAT x NPTC 2026, the College of Psychology demonstrated its continuing dedication to research excellence, quality education, cultural responsiveness, and meaningful participation in the global academic community—further advancing the institution’s contribution to SDG 4: Quality Education.
