Lucena City - Residents and participants gathered on April 11, 2026 at the SLM Building, SHC Campus in Lucena City for a legal seminar and free consultation organized by the SHC High School Batch of 1995 in coordination with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines โ Quezon Chapter and Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc..
Carrying the theme โKarapatan Mo, Sagutin Ko,โ the activity formed part of the batchโs 30th anniversary observance, which included a community-based component aside from its reunion.
Opening the program, Atty. Ryan A. Martinez said the batch aimed to mount an initiative that responds to present community needs. He added that the activity reflects the values learned from their alma mater.
In her message, SHC President Sr. Elenita E. Soriano, DC, underscored the importance of upholding Vincentian core values and extending services that help address the needs of those with limited access to legal support.
Resource speakers from the IBP Quezon Chapter handled the seminar discussions. Atty. Salvador Jubilo spoke on loans and small claims, Atty. Era Lipa discussed issues on slander and cyber libel, Atty. Fem Angela Armamento explained provisions related to violence against women and children and the Safe Spaces Act, while Atty. Leonel Cadiz covered notarial practice.
After the discussions, attendees proceeded to a legal aid session where volunteer lawyers accommodated individual concerns.
Consultations included civil cases, small claims, ejectment, family matters, and criminal and labor-related issues. Assistance in preparing affidavits and other basic legal documents, as well as notarization, was also provided.
Jubilo noted that such efforts help bring legal services closer to communities by making assistance available at no cost.
The activity was supported by the Parents-Teachers Council led by Mr. Luis Quinto, Barangay 2 through Captain Rico Delos Rios, Barangay 11 through Captain Peter Daleon, and Dr. Elena L Sia, SHC VP for Student Development, Wellbeing and External Linkages (SDWEL).
