VINCENTIAN LEADERSHIP TRAINING INSPIRES FUTURE LEADERS WITH ST. VINCENT DE PAUL’S LEGACY
Lucena City, September 27, 2024โIn honor of the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul, Sacred Heart College of Lucena City, Inc. held its Vincentian Leadership Training (VLT), gathering student leaders from elementary, junior high school, senior high school, and higher education for a dynamic and transformative experience focused on leadership rooted in faith and service. The event highlighted the values and mission of St. Vincent de Paul, aiming to instill in young leaders the virtues of compassion, humility, and a commitment to social responsibility.
The first day of the training opened with team-building activities, including ‘palaro ng lahi’ and a yell competition, which set the stage for unity and collaboration among participants. However, the core of the event was found in its inspirational discussions. SHC President Sr. Maria Luisa B. Javier, DC, addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of leadership grounded in the values of St. Vincent de Paul.
Further enriching the experience, Ms. Hazel E. San Gil delivered a talk on “Prayer, Vocation, and Leadership: In the Footsteps of St. Vincent de Paul,” focusing on how leadership, guided by prayer and a sense of vocation, can foster meaningful and lasting change. The session encouraged participants to engage in meaningful prayers with integrity and purpose.
Day 1 wrapped up with a bonfire, bringing everyone together in a warm and reflective moment before the lights went out, signaling the end of the day’s activities.
The VLT is a collaborative effort by the Basic Education Department (BED) Student Executive Board, Senior High School Executive Council, Higher Education Department (HED) Student Executive Council, and the SHC National Service Training Program (NSTP). This yearโs program is themed LAKBAY: Lakad Alay sa Kabanalan, Bokasyon at Yakap-Kalikasan, underscoring the journey of leadership as one that embraces holiness, vocation, and care for the environment.
Through this multi-day event, Sacred Heart College seeks to empower its student leaders to embody the legacy of St. Vincent de Paul by leading with compassion, serving those in need, and making a positive impact on their communities.
