The Junior Financial Investments Executives (JFINEX) held its Community Outreach Program with a theme of Santa’s Elves Gift Giving Party, which aimed to bring joy and the spirit of Christmas to the children in the community of Brgy. Wakas, Tayabas City. The event was held last December 7, 2019, Saturday in coordination with Sacred Heart College’s assigned Social Worker in the said community, Mrs. Elaine Escobiñas.
As the Yuletide season is near, the spirit of giving enlightens again in each one of us. The community in Brgy. Wakas in Tayabas is one of SHC’s adopted communities. The school continues to give its services in these said communities for its continuous programs for charity with the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Marillac still alive up to this day and is now passed on to its students.
The sponsors of the said program were the JFINEX Homeroom students, and other people who donated from their kind hearts. Without them this would not been possible. The program started with an opening prayer simply to ignite the spirit of giving and acknowledge the ones who take part of this outreach program. As a kick-starter, candidates from the Asset Partylist sang some Christmas carols like Jingle Bells and We wish you a Merry Christmas. The feeling was like a Christmas Party back in elementary; kids being excited and wearing their new clothes to show-off to their classmates, bringing exchange gifts and at the end of the party at the count of 3, they will all open the gifts they received. The children there have their own intermission number. One of them a girl named Samantha, delivered a poem that talked about the spirit of Christmas who is Jesus Christ, the spirit for the celebration. The party continued with games like the classic Hep-Hep Hooray! & Bring Me where the children received prizes like bread pan and a pack of cereal. The venue was filled with laughter from the children, and even the hosts from the JFINEX were filled with abundant energy to make the whole flow of the program exciting and great. Nearly at the end of the program, food was distributed to the children, spaghetti and a pack of juice filled the hungry tummy of these children game after game. Some of the children were not that used to eat spaghetti that is why some members of the JFINEX come to their aid while eating. After eating, gifts were given to the kids, names were called and one by one they go upfront. The kids who received the gifts were very thankful, at the count of 3 all of them opened their gifts and were glad to receive slippers. Slippers symbolize that as children it is a long way to attain success and one cannot attain such success without the proper gear for it like slippers. For the JFINEX, this will be a great experience, appreciating such simple gestures coming from the children in the community of Brgy. Wakas. The JFINEX were glad to share time and effort for them after all they are the hope for the future as Rizal have said.
