Marketing management students of Sacred Heart College participated in the Sign Up! Summit 2019 held at World Trade Center, Pasay City last September 23, 2019 which was co-presented by the country's leading digital platforms: Grab PH, Angkas, Shopee, Lalamove and Lazada, etc.
Angat Lahat sa Digital. GoNegosyo and the Office of the Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship led by Mr. Joey Concepcion really worked hand-in-hand with their partners and the digital alliance to make Sign Up Summit, the first of its kind in the country, come to reality. This big event served thousands of Filipinos who wish to sign up in the various digital platforms such as Angkas, Grab PH among others.
The ultimate goal of the event is to empower Filipinos, consumers and entrepreneurs alike and especially those living below the poverty line-through digital platforms that would capacitate them to become self-earning and financially independent entrepreneurs.
Presidential Adviser Joey Concepción with Senator Migz Zubiri and Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte tackled the needs to create a balance between encouraging growth in the digital industry and government regulation. The Chief Executive Officer of the different digital platforms tackled how to earn online and agreeing that failing and learning from failures are necessary steps towards career development. Brian Cu of Grab Ph, George Royeca of Angkas, Dan Majarocon of Lalamove, Dini Araneta of QuadX, Kenneth Palacios of PayMaya, Ney Villasenor of GCash, Martin Yu of Shopee PH, Ray Alimurung of Lazada PH, Dom Danao of Magpie, Humilton Angluben of Cashalo, Jeffri Cheong of Gawin.PH, and JG Luzon of Posible.net. Labor Secretary Silvester Bello III agreed with GoNegosyo that the key solution to educating our service workers are livelihood opportunities generated by digital platforms. Department of Science and Technology Secretary Boy Dela Peña and Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez talked about the integration efforts of the two keys departments towards cultivating an innovation culture among local companies especially micro, small and medium enterprises. Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Parelo reminded the attendees of the value of hardwork and perseverance in turning one’s vision into a reality. He encouraged the youth to take a chance and sign up for the vast opportunities awaiting them in the growing digital economy.
The marketing students learned and gained new insights on how to earn online and to make use of the many opportunities available for them.
