The Christian Vincentian Formation Team of Sacred Heart College attended the Theological Updating Program offered by St. Vincent School of Theology, held last July 8-12,2019 in Tandang Sora Quezon City.
This updating program intends to provide a theological and pastoral updating as well as personal and professional development for those involved in the ministry. The program featured different topics namely Old and New Testament- Contemporary Themes, Issues, and Challenges, Contemporary Philosophical Discourse in Theology, New Directions in Christology, Theology of Creation, Grace and Eschatology as well as the Theology of Dialogue, Church and Mission, Developments in Liturgy and Sacramental Theology, Pastoral Counselling, Catholic Social Teachings, Spirituality and Spiritualities, Canon Law and Pastoral Ministry, BEC and Community Organizing, Mary, Model of Discipleship and topics about "War on Drugs": Violence, Scapegoat and the Sacred.
The two-hour lecture per topic was discussed by the faculty members of SVST and some invited lecturers who are experts on their fields and who earned theological and religious studies in the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, Radboud University in Nijmegen, Pontifico Instituto Biblico in Rome, De Paul University and Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago.
As the tagline of this Vincentian School of Theology, “Doing theology from the margins”. It really helps the participants to learn and unlearn a lot in terms of deepening their pastoral orientation and challenges them to bring into dialogue with the contemporary realities. It is a perspective it that will be brought to discernment and reflection for a more humane and Christian communities of our time and in the future.
